About PIHS

Pothikrit Institute of Health Studies (PIHS) is an Enterprise of Pothikrit Foundation (FB: ….) which is a not-for-profit organization registered with the Registrar of the Joint Stock Companies in Bangladesh under the Social Welfare Act 1866 (amended on …). PIHS (established in 2018) is engaged in the health and biomedical science-related activities of the Foundation which has a wider range of intellectual and practical initiatives covering philosophical, cultural, literary and scientific disciplines promoting liberal and pluralistic views in the society. Sangskriti Bikash Kendra (SBK) is the most widely known institution of the Foundation and it serves as a major hub of practitioners and activists from various fields having diverse viewpoints. Being housed in the SBK Bhaban, PIHS creates a unique opportunity for its Researchers and Students to widen their vision regarding health and biomedical sciences through interacting with activists and opinion leaders in other disciplines. PIHS aims to generate scientific evidence in health and biomedical sciences, ranging from basic to clinical areas, with an objective to support the development of rational and cost-effective context-sensitive policies and programs for Bangladesh and, sometimes, for countries with similar problems, challenges and situations. To this aim, various activities are undertaken in the form of research, joint academic programs, training courses and other activities. A number of national and international collaborations have already been established to advance the activities of PIHS.
